Alcelaphus buselaphus caama
Red Hartebeest is distributed by all African continent.They are brownish and golden tonalities and hump-shouldered, with a steeply sloping back, slim legs and a long and a narrow face. It is medium size (120-170 kg) and is one of the fastest antelopes and most enduring runners of african continent; These qualities gave them the name “hartebeest,” which means “tough ox.”
Gestation is around 240 days and females give birth before or during rains.They will keep hidden their calves until young are big enough to join to the rest of the group. Adult females do not form permanent associations with other adults but they can live in groups of 12-15 individuals in a familiar females harem with calves who are moving in and out of male territories.  /

El alcelafo rojo está distribuido por todo el continente africano. Son antílopes de tonos amarronados-dorados, de tamaño medio (120-170 kg) con la cara larga y estrecha y la cruz mucho más alta que la grupa; Es uno de los antílopes más veloces de toda la sabana. La gestación de las crías es de 240 días y nacen normalmente antes o al inicio de las lluvias. Estas, estarán escondidas hasta que sean lo suficientemente fuertes para unirse al grupo. Viven en grupos de unos 12-15 individuos, se distribuyen en harenes familiares de hembras con sus crías, que entran y salen frecuentemente del territorio de otros machos.  /
