El Eland de El Cabo, es el antílope más grande que existe llegando a parecerse a un buey. Su altura en la cruz es de 1,5-1,7m y su peso oscila entre 700 y 1000Kg. Se distribuye en las sábanas arboladas del este, centro y sur de Africa y están presentes en muchos parques protegidos. Se estima que hay unos 100 mil individuos aunque el número real es drásticamente menor..
